To edit a film together, an individual must have a sufficient understanding of technical, auditory, and visual skills necessary to put all the pieces together. Using an editing software allows for an easier way of creating a film since it holds all the tools in one place. Editing my film project together is the final step in the actual creation of the film so therefore it is vital to get right and ensure is done properly.
So far I have completed the basic editing of the film and now have to focus on perfecting timing and evaluate specific parts to make sure the final result is cohesive with the intention of the project. This basic editing consisted of cropping and retiming shots along with layering audio tracks. To layer the audio, I had to use CapCut after all the scenes had been properly cut so I could input my auditory portions into the project in a much simpler way than iMovie offered.
From here, I have to continue to layer the sounds over themselves and edit the audios so they are the proper volume. To do this, I can use voice isolation and pitching tools that change the loudness of the noise. I also have to align the sounds with each scene so that the auditory elements match up with the visual.
Altogether, this editing process was extremely long and complicated since I had to learn to use the softwares and what would best benefit the project. By using iMovie and CapCut for different purposes, I was able to work with my abilities and line everything up as it should be. Utilizing editing to add more creativity to the film helped in not just putting the pieces together but also in building the narrative.
