Blog Post #40 - Reshoots #2

During filming, reshoots have to be done hundreds of time in order to discover the best possible takes of each and every scene. As this happens, the director can make changes and alterations to each scene as needed to improve it. The majority of the scenes I reshot were done to change angles to communicate different things for different shots.

This scene had to be retaken because of the background. Choosing a bedroom as my setting was not the best choice due to the elements around the room that cannot exactly be removed or altered like the mirror doors. The doors cause a lot of issues with filming angles due to either me filming or my other actors appearing through the reflection. So, the next take of this scene was changed to be from an angle further back and I had to move objects and people around so they wouldn't show.

This take of the scene worked due to the small changes that created a big difference in the overall outcome of the scene. Now, the angle is much better for my intention of the take and the background is empty of unwanted elements as it should be. Overall, without these small retakes and changes the entire quality of the project would suffer.

To conclude, throughout my process of filming I had to redo countless scenes for countless reasons. But, this was beneficial to my opening sequence and cinematography skills because the practice helps m to now be able to determine what looks well and fits into a scene. The improvements to filming skills also help me in future projects and deciding what scenes to crop, cut, and choose while editing this project.
