Blog Post #32 - Shot Retakes

Very often in filming, people make mistakes. Whether they are technical or the scene just doesn't work out as intended, these mistakes happen extremely easily. Because of this, directors and cast usually have to reshoot scenes many time in order to perfect them to the best of their ability for the benefit of the film.

In this scene, we were forced to reshoot it because of people talking in the background which would interrupt the audio of the film. To rectify this, we had to wait to resume filming until the people walked out of frame and noise distance. This allowed for the proper shot and audio for the intended scene.

The scene where the stalker is watching Charlotte had to also be retaken due to the rest of my cast and crew laughing during the take. In order to prevent this from happening more, I had them go to set up the next scene while this one was filmed. All in all I learned to limit the number of people around to just me filming and the ones actually being filmed.

To conclude, though we filmed many good takes in our first filming day, the mistakes are unavoidable. Although, the storyboard and script I created in the planning phase helped immensely through preventing having to come up with ideas for different takes on the spot. These scenes overall turned out significantly better than they would have if they were not reshot.
