Blog Post #29 - Important Cinematography I Will Use

Since cinematography is such a vital part of film creation, I decided to plan ahead some shots that will be used for important moments. Some examples of these are a mid shot when Charlotte is outside of the house, a dolly out to reveal the murderer behind Grace, and an eye level shot to show the change in emotion. When used properly, these can create imperative emotion and story points to help build the film.

Firstly, the scene of Charlotte looking around because she has an odd feeling will be filmed using a mid shot. A mid shot is commonly used to show details about characters and their environments, convey body language, and to build a sense of space which makes this shot perfect about the scene. With this, I can create a shot where you can notice Charlotte's awkward and uncomfortable body language as she looks around.

Secondly, a dolly out will be perfect for the scene where the stalker behind Grace is revealed because the camera pulls out from the close up of her face to show him standing behind her. These types of shots emphasize distance which builds feelings of isolation and loneliness. The feelings help in providing context to the audience that Grace is alone and there is no one to help her in the situation which also creates fear.

Third, I plan to use eye-level shots in the final scene to express Grace's emotions. By using these shots in the right moments, I can show her confusion, shock, and fear as her emotions change throughout the scene. This also creates feelings of empathy and equality in the audience for Grace because they know what is about to happen and they can see her perspective from her view using her eyes.
