Blog Post #25 - Time Stamps

To help in the development of project, I decided to write and plan out time stamps. This not only assists in planning and filming, but also in editing. Editing is assisted by allowing me to know where to cut clips, what to remove, and how to incorporate my transitions.

The organization of using the time stamps as a template along with the story board and script allows production to remain efficient and on schedule. By preventing unnecessary filming and delays, every shot of the film can be exactly as planned and intended without capturing wasteful mistakes. These timestamps also can help me coordinate schedules with the actors so that everyone is available when needed to carry out their responsibility in the film.

Much of the time stamps I wrote had to be altered and changed. This is because I made the scene's amount of time either too long or too short to where the project would not fit into the allotted time frame. through altering the times, I was able to reorganize my scenes and determine the layout of the film even further.

Overall, the creation of the time stamps vastly assisted me in the closing portion of planning my film project. Filming will most likely begin next week to allow enough time for filming, reshoots, and editing. Because of this, I have to complete all planning aspects of project as soon as possible and finalize all the small details.

Time Stamps:

0:00-0:03 Alarm starts going off with a close-up of alarm

0:03-0:08 Shot of Charlotte sleeping and waking up

0:08- 0:26 Parallel editing of the girls getting ready with close ups of makeup products and hair

0:26-0:32 Music fades out and its silent with the ambient outside noises as she walks to the car and grabs the door handle and opens the door

0:32-0:36 Before getting in, her facial expression looks confused as if she feels someone looking at her

0:36-0:39 She looks to the right then to the left in a mid-shot from behind

0:39-0:41 While turning left the camera cuts to show what she sees and shows just the empty street

0:41-0:43 Cuts back to her as she shakes out of her daze when Grace tells her to hurry up

0:43-0:47 She gets in the car and closes the door

0:47-0:51 Close up of car hood while taking off then a shot from the front as the car drives off from an angle where you can't see behind the car as much

0:51-0:54 Then as the car takes off, you can see a dark figure staring at the car as it drives off

**add title sequence here

0:54-0:57 Cuts to an establishing shot of the school as the girls walk in frame

0:57-1:07 Over the shoulder shots of them having their conversation

1:07-1:09 Both girls grab door handles to walk into school where scene cuts off with the sound of the bell ringing

1:09-1:12 Scene picks up with the girl in the hallway walking with her phone and a bathroom pass

1:12-1:14 She turns around before walking into the bathroom

1:14-1:16 Cuts to her view of the hallway

1:16-1:19 Then cuts to her looking around then says, “Maybe I'm just going insane” and shakes her head as she walks into the bathroom

1:19-1:22 Cuts back to her view of the hallway where the same guy peeks around the corner

1:22-1:25 Time jumps to when she is home laying in her bed studying

1:25-1:28 She gets a text from an unknown number and grabs it

1:28-1:34 angle changes to in front of her while she unlocks her phone then the scene switches to a close-up of her phone and the message

* “Charlotte’s not insane.” - message on phone

1:34-1:36 Angle switches to the point of view of her phone where you can see her eyes widen as she reads the message

1:36-1:39 Dolly out to where you can see the guy behind her staring at her with a phone in his hand

1:39-1:44The text tone goes off again while still showing the shot above and the camera cuts back to the close up of her phone

*“Turn around.” - message on phone

1:44-1:47 Camera goes to an eyeline leveled shot from a close-up angle of her face looking shocked

1:47-1:53 Screen goes black with the sound of knife and scream

Estimation: project should be about 1 minute 53 seconds before a 4-5 second title sequence before establishing shot of the school
